Kisstory-style DJ sets at Hertfordshire weddings

Hertfordshire Kisstory DJ sets at weddings | JN Sounds

A common question we get asked by Hertfordshire couples is… ‘Can you play Kisstory-style music at our wedding?’

And the answer is yes, of course!

For those in the 30ish-40ish age group getting married it is a very popular style of music.  It is the music a lot of us grew up to, and can bring back a lot of memories  – our first nights out – our clubbing days – our first ‘lads’ or ‘girls’ holiday!

As I also fall into the 30-40 age bracket ourselves (who’d have guessed!) this style of music was a HUGE part of my early adult life.  It was what drove me to want to become a DJ and really has influenced my style of DJ’ing.

What is it?

For those that haven’t heard of the term ‘Kisstory’ before – it stared out as a show on Kiss FM, that played dance and urban club classics and anthems from the 90s and 00s era.

Mainly House, UK Garage, RnB and Hip Hop, the term has now almost grouped those kind of songs into its own ‘Kisstory’ genre.  There is now even a separate Kisstory digital station.

To give an example of a few artists and songs:

House/dance

Livin Joy – Dreamer

Bobby Brown – Two can play at that game

Stardust – Music sounds better with you

Robin S – Show me love

Faithless – Insomnia

Garage

Shola Ama – Imagine

Daniel Bedingfield – Gotta get thru this

So Solid Crew – 21 seconds

Jaheim – Just in case

Craig David – Re rewind

RnB/Hip hop

Jennifer Lopez – Jenny from the block

Flo Rida – Low

Montell Jordan – This is how we do it

Justin Timberlake – Rock your body

Outkast – Hey ya!

Will it work at my wedding?

If you and your guests fall into the fore mentioned age group and have similar tastes in music then yes, definitely!  Not only does the Kisstory-style bring back good memories from the old days, but it is perfect for getting people up partying on the dance floor!

Some of the RnB tracks are a bit more laid back so are perfect for early evening warm up music.  But other more dance-y songs can be a bit more in your face.  Chat with your wedding DJ to ensure they are experienced playing this style of music.  A good wedding DJ should know when to fit certain genres of music to keep everyone dancing without scaring off guests of other ages.

A good wedding DJ will also be able to seamlessly mix their songs.  This keep the music and the dance floor flowing without awkward pauses or changes in rhythm.
